Eric Metering Pump – Accudyne

Summary A minisite for a new pump that Accuydne wanted to use for the OTC. There was a very short deadline and no flexibility. Tools Built in WordPress CMS. Using several commercial plugins with modifications where needed. Challenges This minisite needed to look very good and have neat animations and interactivity, but I only ended up having about three days to build it in. Originally I was going to have a week (two days were lost waiting on material) and even that would have been impossible if functions would have needed to be built from scratch. The website needed to...

Oil States

Summary A new website for Oil States and an unusual content structure. Tools Built in WordPress CMS. Otherwise everything is custom. Challenges There were certain restrictions such as some graphic elements and the content structure. Some of these introduced potential user experience issues that we needed to work through and find solutions to. Probably the most challenging issue was that the client needed the most of the content to be editable from a single location (referred to as ‘parent pages’), but also wanted multiple ‘version’s of the each ‘page’ throughout the website, with the breadcrumbs and urls showing the pages as actually...

FreshPoint (Sysco)

Summary A new website build for FreshPoint (Sysco) including a one way ongoing feed of produce items from a source database into WordPress. Tools Built in WordPress CMS. Otherwise everything is custom. Challenges Data needed to feed in to this database from another website. Then when an item is updated, deleted or created on the source website, data on the new website had to follow suit. There was no regular CMS on the source website so I couldn’t just fall back on a rest api. Successes The data feed was accomplished by creating a function on the source website that retrieves...

The Dinerstein Companies

Summary This project was interesting to me because of it’s structure and very nice design. Tools Built in WordPress CMS. Otherwise everything is custom. Challenges Every element had to be extremely modular and able to handle a variety of use cases, and in many cases, an entirely different solution on device view. For example, the ‘quality’ content slider in the large image on the right, was used for everything from this featured property slider, to single slide testimonials, news posts, etc. Pretty much every element is a modular tool used in several ways. The footer, for example, can be configured on...

CenterPoint Annual Report 2014

Summary An ’emergency’ build for a CenterPoint annual report. Tools Not built in a CMS. HTML/CSS/Jquery. Challenges This annual report was, of course, on a very firm deadline, and had to be outsourced due to internal bandwidth limits. However just about a week before the deadline we discovered serious issues with the deliverables and the third party resource wasn’t available to correct them. Another very difficult requirement was that every bit of it had to work almost perfectly all the way back to IE8. Successes I received this project with very little time and had to rework it entirely (fullscreen...

US Flag & Flagpole Supply

Summary A revised website with research aimed at increasing purchases and quote request specifically for the larger items. Tools Built in Magento CMS. Using several commercial plugins with modifications as well as custom programming. Challenges The customer came to me with major complaints about website downtime, slow loading time, customers getting lost, almost no sales being made through the website and the difficulty of managing it. He wanted to improve purchases of smaller items but also, and more importantly, to get more leads for ‘monster flagpoles’ and large custom flagpoles. The domain is very established and had good placement, so any work...
